BATH TOWNSHIP, OH — A 911 call released this week from an incident back in January tells the story of a 20-year-old man requesting a drug-sniffing police dog because he suspected his girlfriend stole his heroin.
The 911 operator asked Joseph Murphy why he needed a police dog when he replied, "She stole heroin from me."
Police arrived on-scene to talk with Murphy outside, bodycams rolling, when he mistakenly pulled out what was suspected to be heroin from his pocket.
Murphy was promptly arrested, booked and then released from the station because the substance had to be sent to the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation to determine the exact drug for him to be properly charged.
The chemical lab results on the substance are still pending; however, court records show Murphy was arrested again on April 16 for drunk driving after crashing a Mercedes-Benz with a .121 BAC.
Murphy's criminal record also includes an incident where he urinated on a police officer at a Disney resort in Florida.
