NORMAN COUNTY, MN — Monalisa Perez was arrested on Monday after calling 911, frantically pleading for help as her boyfriend Pedro Ruiz suffered a gunshot wound to the chest. She pulled the trigger.
The plan was for Pedro to hold a book against his chest and have Monsalisa shoot him with a pistol at point-blank range. They both expected the book to stop the bullet.
The pair ran a YouTube channel and were desperate for views, resorting to the dangerous act in a blinded attempt for fame. "Me and Pedro are probably going to shoot one of the most dangerous videos ever," Monalisa tweeted, "HIS idea not MINE."
The weapon of choice was a Desert Eagle .50-caliber, one of the most powerful handguns on the market.
Needless to say, the bullet tore through the book and into Pedro's chest, killing him instantly.
Monalisa was arrested and booked for manslaughter, a charge that could land her up to ten years in prison if convicted. She is seven months pregnant with Pedro's baby and is currently out on bail under strict conditions.
